Regent Park Business Feature: Le Beau Croissanterie

Possibly the biggest success story that has recently emerged in Regent Park is a café located at 665 Dundas Street East in the base of the Wyatt condominium, called Le Beau. The rapid rise to success for this establishment is no accident and in today’s blog, we are going to take an in-depth look at this thriving Regent Park business.

Le Beau was created by Olga Spivak, executive pastry chef and founder. Olga was trained at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de la Pâtisserie by Alain Ducasse and worked at a renowned patisserie in Paris under the guidance of a Meilleur Ouvrier de France (MOF). This allowed her to perfect her craft and eventually be in a position to open her own business once she returned to Toronto. Olga’s guiding principles are providing the highest quality of ingredients & craftsmanship, simplicity and maximum respect for tradition.

The rise to success was relatively rapid for Le Beau. After opening its doors in December of 2019, and despite the challenges presented by the lockdowns, the café & dessert bar saw a gradual increase in patrons and guests. After all, croissants and pastries make for a perfect gift to take to a social gathering, to bring to your family while celebrating milestones, or to enjoy with a significant other on the adjacent outdoor patio. Instagram provided a significant launchpad for growth as well, due to Le Beau’s carefully crafted posts and minimalistic social media aesthetic. You can follow LeBeau on IG here – @lebeaulab.

Fast forward to today and it is an absolute guarantee that on any weekend morning, there will be a 20-30-person lineup outside, waiting for their opportunity to purchase these delicious croissants which are made in-house, using organic flour, imported ingredients and never frozen. Alongside traditional beverage offerings such as coffee, lattes and teas, menu items are offered of the following varieties: sweet and savoury croissants, breakfast sandwiches, signature pastries, cookies, brioche bread, caramelized nuts, jam, chocolate creations such as bars, rocks, mendicants, medallions, and full-size bars.

Don’t forget to try the cookies! Crafted using top-notch chocolate from France, not regular chips. Match cookies are made with Premium matcha powder and Cacao Barry white chocolate making them a very rare find in the city.

Despite the wide range of products, make no mistake the croissants are the star of the show here. As a matter of fact they make up 95% of the overall production and are considered by many to be the best croissants in all of Toronto!

When choosing a location, Olga correctly identified Regent Park as a high-density area with high potential. Today it is wonderful to see Le Beau thrive in Regent Park, bringing in tens of thousands of new visitors to the area on a yearly basis.  Businesses such as Le Beau are a cornerstone of a community and we hope they continue to thrive for years to come. We were able to confirm that Le Beau is in fact expanding to a second location! Construction is starting this Fall with a target date for launch being Early 2024. Geographic location is to be announced.

Closed on Monday and Tuesday, Open Wed-Sun 9am – 5pm, Le Beau should be at the absolute top of your Toronto café list.
