Pam McConnell Aquatic Centre is a modern, year-round, multi-purpose indoor swimming facility located at 640 Dundas street East. It was completed in 2012, originally known as the Regent Park Aquatic Centre before being officially renamed to the Pam McConnell Aquatic Centre on July 23rd, 2021. It was renamed after Pam McConnell who was a local resident and a municipal politician that served on the Toronto City Council representing the Regent Park community for almost 2 decades. She was known as one of the mothers of the Regent Park revitalization. Today the Regent Park aquatic centre attracts many local residents and even residents from other Toronto Neighbourhoods due to its fantastic modern facilities, inclusive atmosphere, and free admission. Designed by MacLennan Jaunkalns Miller Architects the facility consists of a 25-metre six-lane pool, leisure pool, tot pool, hot tub, water slide, tarzan rope, diving board, modesty blinds, multi-purpose community room & the first ultraviolet sanitation system in Toronto. Upon entering the aquatic centre visitors are greeted by the reception staff before proceeding to the universal change rooms A or B. This was the first facility in Canada to provide open-concept universal changerooms exclusively, with intention of fostering an environment of inclusivity. As a result, the interiors feel open, bright and modern.
There are many programs available such as a lane swim, all-age leisure swim, preschool swim, open & inclusive swim, women’s only, older adult and youth swims. Reservations can be made for the aquafit classes and instructional swimming lessons. Pam McConnell Aquatic Centre also offers party and gathering rental services. Options to rent a community room or the full pool facility are available for those looking to host an event or a birthday party. Before visiting, we encourage you to give the reception staff a call at 416-338-2237 when planning a visit since the schedule may not include any special events and may be subject to change.
