Regent Park Community centre is without a doubt one of the best features of the new Regent Park. Opened in February 2016, the brand-new community centre was completed as part of Phase 2 of the Regent Park revitalization. It finally replaced two inferior, aging community centres that once served the area. The new facility is located at 402 Shuter Street and is directly attached to the Nelson Mandela public school to create a vibrant community hub. It covers a total of 59,000 square feet, featuring new recreation facilities, an employment centre & a child care centre.

The recreation facilities are absolutely fantastic. There’s a two-storey full court multi-purpose gymnasium with 6 basketball nets, a running track on the second floor, a fitness area with weight lifting equipment, dumbbells, cable machines and cardio equipment such as treadmills and ellipticals. There’s also a climbing wall and rock climbing is available 6 days per week. It is worth mentioning that there are separate men’s and women’s changerooms with storage lockers & showers. In addition, there are also quarterly programs with scheduled activities such as dance classes, soccer, table tennis, basketball, tai chi, floor hockey, volleyball, Badminton, Pickle Ball and more. Most importantly – all of the facilities & activities listed above are available FREE of charge!
