Top Dining Experiences In and Around Regent Park

It is time to discuss sit-down dining experiences that are worth having in Regent Park and surrounding areas. All of the establishments mentioned in this blog are well within walking distance for any Regent Park condo resident. These are trialed and tested by the most sophisticated of restaurant critics – myself. As a long-time resident of Regent Park, I can confidently say that I’ve tried most, if not all restaurants and bars in the area. Listed below are my favorites.

Gusto 501

I would be remiss not to put the hard-hitting Gusto 501 at the top of this list. Gusto checks many boxes, whether you’re looking to catch up with a friend over a drink, or to have a fine dining experience with a significant other, this is the perfect spot. Consisting of a ground level patio, upstairs patio with beautiful views and a multi-level interior space with stunning design. As the name suggests, Gusto 501 is located at 501 King Street East and is most certainly worth a visit.

Notable Menu Items: Crudo Antipasti, Cavolo Nero Insalate (kale salad), Mafalde Ai Funghi (mushroom pasta)

Henrietta Lane

A friendly environment, amazing charcuterie boards and wine. This is a spot to relax and unwind after a long day at the office or a challenging week. Also featuring a general store with great takeaways for your pantry and a bottle shop to stock up on local wines and spirits. Henrietta Lane is located at 394 King Street East, a short walk for any Regent Park resident.

Reyna on King

If you’re looking for Mediterranean food with eccentric cocktails and this is the spot for you. Cozy atmosphere, tapas style sharables, this place will tantalize your taste buds. Super hospitable and friendly owner, may even treat you with some off-menu tapas. Recently renovated and located at 354 King Street East, Reyna on King is worth a visit.

Terroni Sud Forno (Spaccio East)

An upscale Italian restaurant with indoor and outdoor patio seating, in addition to having a grocery side. Visitors can marvel at the professional chefs preparing food in an open kitchen or shop for homemade artisanal products such as pasta and cakes as well as a selection of imported Italian foods and wine. Terroni Sud Forno is located at 22 Sackville Street just off of King Street East.

Notable Menu Items: Take-home Pizza Making Kit, Freshly Made Pasta & Pizza to Go, Daily Paninis

Dominion Pub and Kitchen

The perfect pub experience for any Regent Park resident is located a stones throw away. Offering a wide selection of beer, standard but well executed cocktails, and sports bar fare such as burgers, fries, calamari, and more. A great spot to catch a game, or to grab a beer with your mates after playing a game on the Regent Park soccer field. Dominion Pub is located at 500 Queen Street East at Queen and Sumach.

Impact Kitchen

Occupying a unique niche of health conscious, yet casual dining experience, Impact Kitchen is the perfect destination for those that want to eat well for breakfast, and lunch. Keto, Vegan, Paleo, Dairy Free options are all available. Don’t expect to have a fancy sit down meal here, but if you’re coming from the gym in need of a boost, or looking for a place to work from all day with good food by your side this is it. Located at 573 King Street East steps from King and River intersection.

Notable Menu Items: Lift smoothie, Vegan Chocolate Sea Salt Cookie (an absolute must), Build Your Own Bowl, Selection of Bone Broth

Kibo Sushi House

Sushi has always been a staple, for a healthy lunch or dinner experience. Having Kibo officially in Regent Park is a blessing. Offering $6 cash only lunch Grab and Go options, as well as an extensive list of menu items standard to all Kibo Sushi restaurants, this is a place worth visiting again and again. Located at the base of the Chartwell Retirement Residence, right across from the athletic grounds at 146 Sumach Street.

Salt and Tobacco

Finally, it is necessary to mention what I consider to be the best pizza restaurant in close proximity to Regent ParkSalt and Tobacco. Located in the heart of Cabbagetown at 521 Parliament Street, whether you’re looking for a single slice or an entire za, you’ll find it here and it will not disappoint.

Notable Menu Items: Marilyna (Neighbourhood Favorite), Margherita, Mr. Hand (yes, it comes with Pineapple on a Pizza)
